I have finished living Confinement – Season 2 (French with English subtitles), and now I am living a new series, Quarantine – Season 2 (English with French subtitles). So far, so good, although the plot seems eerily similar to Quarantine – Season 1.

I have been back in Toronto now for seven days. I am halfway through the 14 day quarantine mandated by the Government of Canada. And the GOC seems to really care about me. Every day I wake up to a morning email from Justin and the Gang asking me how I am doing and how I am feeling. And they want me to write them back telling them everything. And if I don’t they say they will rush over and check to see if I am ok. It is so nice of them.

And where does the time go? I mean I am in quarantine, I cannot go anywhere, and yet I am so busy. There is so much to do! Today, as an example I noticed that the two light fixtures in the upstairs hall no only had burnt out bulbs, but the lucite shade was just filthy with a film of I don’t know what. That was a job, between bringing up the ladder, strapping myself into a safety harness, donning safety glasses and then consulting a high school text book on trigonometry to figure out how to remove the square lucite from a smaller opening. Every day is an adventure.

But the highlight by far, has been this amazing almost mystical multi time a day event I have experienced since being home. It seems that all I have do is think about a product I need and like magic, later that day or the next day, it appears right at my door! Food, coffee, toilet paper (don’t ask) and my favourite, a full length adult bib. I was thinking of what a mess I make when I eat and voila (well, not voila actually as that seems to summons food) the next day there it was at my door. I was running out of drinking glasses and new ones showed up. I saw the steak knives were rusty and old, and just like that, new ones arrived the next day. Everything that I need, from A to Z seems to just appear.

And apparently, this is all free! No one has ever asked me for money. Maybe it is part of the GOC welcome back to Canada program, which may also explain somewhat the increase in the debt that our children and grandchildren will be saddled with for the next 50 years.
